Beef Brisket in Beer

IngredientsBeef Brisket

  • 1 (3 – 4 pound) beef brisket
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon pepper
  • 1 medium onion, sliced
  • 1 (well ounce) can beer
  • 1/4 cup chili sauce
  • 2 tablespoons firmly packed brown sugar
  • One clove garlic, minced
  • 1/2 cup water
  • 2 tablespoons all – purpose flour


  1. Preheat oven to 350⁰
  2. Trim excess fat from brisket.
  3. Place brisket in a 13 x 9 x 2″ baking dish; sprinkle with salt and pepper. Cover with onion slices.
  4. Combined beer, chili sauce, Brown sugar, and garlic; pour over meat. Cover with aluminum foil, and bake at 350° for 3 1/2 hours.
  5. Remove foil; bake an additional 30 minutes, basting occasionally with pan juices.
  6. Remove meat to a platter; keep warm.
  7. Skim fat from pan juices. Pour off liquid, reserving 1 cup. Combined water and flour in a saucepan.
  8. Add 1 cup liquid; cook over medium heat until thickened and bubbly.
  9. Sliced meat across grain into thin slices, and serve with gravy.
