  • 1 1/2 cups rice flour (or buy premixed flour)Bread Irish Soda
  • ½ cup tapioca flour
  • ½ cup granulated sugar
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 2 teaspoons caraway seeds
  • 1 egg
  • 1 cup buttermilk
  • 1 cup raisins


  1. Preheat oven to 350⁰
  2. Grease 9 inch round cake pan
  3. Combine rice flour, tapioca flour, sugar, baking soda, baking powder, salt, caraway seeds and raisins in a large bowl and  mix well.
  4. In a separate bowl, whisk together egg and buttermilk
  5. Make a well in the center of the dry ingredients and pour in the wet ingredients.  Stir just until the dry ingredients are moistened.
  6. Pour into the cake pan.
  7. Bake for 65 minutes or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
  8. Cool on a wire rack for 10 minutes before removing from the pan.
  9. Wrap in plastic wrap or aluminum foil and let stand overnight for the best flavor.
