Mongolian Beef

IngredientsMongolian Beef

  • 3/4 cup water
  • 2 Tbsp. soy sauce and 1 Tbsp. soy sauce
  • 1 tsp crushed red pepper
  • 1 tsp white sugar
  • 2 tsp minced garlic
  • 1 lb. beef round steak, thinly sliced into strips
  • 2 Tbsp. vegetable oil
  • 2 carrots, thinly sliced
  • 6 green onions, coarsely chopped
  • 1 tsp sesame seeds


  1. Toast sesame seeds over medium heat in skillet until golden brown and set aside.
  2. In a medium mixing bowl, combine minced garlic and one tablespoon soy sauce.
  3. Add beef strips, stir gently and set aside to let marinate for at least ten minutes.
  4. In another small bowl, mix together two tablespoons of soy sauce, sugar, sesame seed, red pepper flakes and water.
  5. Mix well and set aside.
  6. In a large skillet, heat one tablespoon oil over high heat, place beef in and cook for one minute, remove the beef from skillet and set aside.
  7. Add remaining oil into pan and place carrots and green onion in pan, sauté for 3-4 minutes.
  8. Stir in sesame seed mixture and cooked beef, continue cooking until sauce boils.
  9. Remove from heat and serve with rice.
