I was watching the ABC television show “The Chew”. Actress Valerie Harper was a guest. She was kind enough to share her favorite applesauce recipe and that is what I am doing here. If you enjoy applesauce without sugar this is probably the simplest recipe your going to find.
Valerie Harper’s Favorite Applesauce
- 2 pounds McIntosh apples, cored and halved.
- Place apples in a sauce pot with half an inch of water. Bring to a boil and cook until the skins of the apples fall off. Remove the skin and crush up the apples and water in the pot.
- Make as smooth or chunky as you like.
Serve hot or cold
This recipe makes a wonderful gift when packaged in 4 oz. jelly jars. Be sure to use proper canning procedures.
